Earl Family photos

The studio was able to close for a few days at christmas, which was fantastic after such a busy December. On the 27th I was booked to shoot one of the largest groups that I have been commissioned to do. 15 people were beautifully dressed and ready for me to take their family photo. Everyone was really organized and in a great mood which made the shoot go seamless. We did a big group shot, then had some fun with kids who adorned some Santa hats. At the end of the shoot I got to photograph a cute couple who are engaged! Congratulations to the two of them and good luck!

New Christmas Cards

This Christmas the studio took the bull by the horns and produced some very pretty christmas cards. The First one is one I made up for my brother and the Second one is the one my family gave out this year. Enjoy!

new arrival

I had the fantastic opportunity to photograph such a beautiful and wonderful baby before Christmas. She was so good, she just slept and grunted. For those that know me well know that I have been immunized against "baby fever", but this girl charms were strong. One of my coworkers contacted me to take these photos of her new niece. she wanted to give her sister a special gift for christmas. She also wanted to find away to include her nephew who passed away a few years before. Devon came up with a collage idea. Here are the results.

my other pride and Joy

Last night I did a quick photo shoot for my brother and his children...(my other pride and Joy). This was the first time he had to organize and arrange his own christmas card photos. I must say that he did really well. I only know a handful of dads that are able to dress up and get their kids to a photo shoot on time!

Kimberlee and Chris's Wedding

It was an absolute honor to be chosen to photograph Kimberlee and Chris's wedding. They asked me back in april if I would be interested in photographing a destination wedding. I was a little hesitant at first as I was still fairly new to the photography world and was completely unsure about traveling across the world to take their photos. I agreed after a few hours of thinking. What a blessing to be able to experience their wedding day with them. The day didn't go without it's hiccups, but kimberlee class and poise didn't waver. She was a gorgeous glowing bride, and Chris was handsome as he waited to see her for the first time. The wedding was late (which is normal in the dominican) and that left us very little time for family shots, and even less time for there own formal portraits. We headed down to the beach to catch the last of the failing light and captured some beautiful shots.

The ceremony was filled with such love and emotion, I think you would be at a loss to find a dry eye in the place. Even my husband had trouble keeping his composure. I know that the happy couple had waited a long time for this day to come, and it was beautiful, not only because of the destination but because of the chemistry between Kimberlee and Chris.

I wish them all the best in 2008 and look forward to seeing their family grow together happily.

Trash the Dress

Marty and I pulled off our first trash the dress session! I had a beautiful dress that had gotten snagged the last time I wore it. So we decided to take it to the dominican and trash it since I couldn't wear it again. We took off really early in the morning for the beach hoping to get a beautiful sunrise, instead we found a few crabs and a lot of wind. it was a lot of fun getting into the water and thrashing around in my beloved satin dress. We weren't there for long though...many of the people who were running by on the beach stopped to watch what we were doing. We took a few more photos on the way back to our room. The scenery in between the villas was fantastic and we really didn't want to waste it.

Assignment 6

With the busy time before christmas and the sutdio getting ready to shoot a wedding in the Domincan Republic on Wednesday, my assignments have fallen behind. After getting family photo done, the Selwood family allowed me to use them for a quick assignment that was already a week late. We ran out to the field behind the house and started shooting. It was quite cold, but the minutes flew by and I was able to get some pretty photos. Thanks again guys!

The Selwood Family 2007

I am so lucky to have friends like these ones. For reasons that will remain a secret (right guys?) they didn't get their photos last year. This year however, they gave it another go and we got some really cute shots. I tell you it's a lot of fun to get 5 people looking and smiling one way (at me) in such an enclosed space. Thank you Selwood Family for everything this year!

Two Peas in a Pod

I had the pleasure of photography two very well behaved dogs on Friday night. One of my brides to be asked me shoot a few photos of the two family members who will be missing their wedding since it takes place overseas. she wanted a few photos to include in her guest book. So earlier in the evening I wrangled up my cats and and brought the dogs down to my studio. They were so good. Photographic Naturals!

Eddy Cousins

I had the priviledge of shoot 4 very well behaved children. These kids were cousins and don't get to see eachother that often. MY little studio managed to fit 4 children and four adults. Needless to say it was tight, but we all had a blast trying to get all four kids to look the same direction and smile.

The Pudwell Family

Ann contacted me earlier in the week to do a fun family shoot. Originally we wanted to go outside, but on the day of the shoot it started to snow. Ann called me on the saturday to change their location to inside the studio. Quite frankly it was nice to shoot in a warm and dry place. The studio however needed some quick work to get ready. IT was having it's annual fall cleaning to get ready for heavy use in November and December. They looked liked they were having so much fun. Thier laughter was contagious and I couldn't help myself but to join in the fun.

South Pacific 2007

Madchen Studios was asked this year to donate their photography for the local Musical Theatre. We went on location on October 29 and shot 26 groups in just under 3 hours. My husband (and second shooter) was instrumental in making the night flow so easily. He was my director, props manager, lighting tech and assistant. The photos turned out awesome and I believe we produced some nice images for the program.
