something special...

On Monday I had a fantastic oppourtunity. One of my very best friends asked me to photograph his baby. Since we live in different cities this was the first time that I had seen his daughter. She was absolutely gorgeous. It's funny to think that her Daddy used to do sommersaults on the lawn for no reason. It makes me wonder if she will be like her parent. Her dad is an avid U2 fan, a whiz with technology and so funny when it comes to female matters. He's one of the few men I know that has an ABBA Cd. Her mom is breathtakingly gorgeous, a super hostess and funny to boot. I wonder if Caitlin will get these amazing qualities. I have to admit when I saw her for the first time i was overcome with amazement and tears. Looking back on her photos I can see the great physical qualities that she has inherited, I can only imagine that she will recieve many of their other qualities.

It's getting hot in here!

This weekend I got to do another TFP shoot with Adriane. She took me out to this garage where her and her boyfriend have been working on their Lotus. For anyone who knows me knows that I know nothing about cars except for washing them. It was pretty cool and I would have to say that even I was floored by such a fun looking car. We shot some in the one that she is currently working in and then shot a little with one that was already finished and for sale!

Blair, Talitha and the kids

I did an impromptu session over at Blair and Talitha's on Thursday. it's nice to see such a loving family that doesn't sweat the small stuff. This couple truly enjoys what their children have to offer. It was a busy morning with both little ones but we managed to snap a few keepers that really show off what I thought was a wonderful vibe from this family.

Moira's Stock

I managed to devise a plan to get Moira into posing, at least not as reluctantly. Moira and I are now profit sharing in her stock photos. Here is some of her latest. there is one of the dog, but Moira was instrumental ingetting the dog to look in the right direction!

Rylan Arrives

I am sure Matt is happy to have the photography focus of off him for awhile. (I don't know why, he always looks really good in all of his photos.) Anyways back to the cute squishy little darling. Rylan was super good as we snapped 20 or so photos at their home. I had to wait a week to see the little darling, but oh...it was so worth it! We tool some real gems, but unfortunately I am unable to post them in the blog until later..you will see why. Here is a collection from his newborn series.

One Shot Left

Jeff contacted me a couple of weeks ago to ask me if I would shoot some promo pics for his band One Shot Left. He had a ton of ideas which were really cool and I couldn't wait to help them out. We got finished the initial photo that they wanted done, and then moved on to the fun stuff. They wanted to celebrate 10 years of being together as a band. The group had come up with the idea of a kids birthday (but for adults) complete with cake, balloons, gifts and whipped cream. Here are a few of my favourites from the session.

Earl Family photos

The studio was able to close for a few days at christmas, which was fantastic after such a busy December. On the 27th I was booked to shoot one of the largest groups that I have been commissioned to do. 15 people were beautifully dressed and ready for me to take their family photo. Everyone was really organized and in a great mood which made the shoot go seamless. We did a big group shot, then had some fun with kids who adorned some Santa hats. At the end of the shoot I got to photograph a cute couple who are engaged! Congratulations to the two of them and good luck!

South Pacific 2007

Madchen Studios was asked this year to donate their photography for the local Musical Theatre. We went on location on October 29 and shot 26 groups in just under 3 hours. My husband (and second shooter) was instrumental in making the night flow so easily. He was my director, props manager, lighting tech and assistant. The photos turned out awesome and I believe we produced some nice images for the program.

Assignment 2-Document a party

In my wedding photography class we were asked to document a party. I decided to have a few people over for cocktails before we headed to the policeman's ball. We got a few photos in and were really starting to get into the mood to take more when we got interupted. There was an emergency at work and one or two of us had to leave abruptly. After the ball we came back and snapped a few more. These are our results.

Devon

I brought the camera to work today. My student needed some photos for a school project that she is working on. We took a few more serious ones, and then moved on to some that were a little more light hearted.. It wasn't long before she convinced some other staff members to join her in the fun.
